How to Notice When Your Mind Has Taken the Wheel

Transference is what happens when your Sun-Earth motivational frequency gets distorted by the mind. It's subtle, it's common, and there's a specific signpost that gives it away.

There’s a specific, sneaky failure mode in this work that’s worth naming precisely, because it hides well: transference. It’s what happens when your Sun-Earth motivational frequency, the thing that actually drives you to act, gets quietly distorted, and the mind starts running the show while insisting it’s still you.

Why this one is hard to catch

Most conditioning is easy enough to spot once you know to look for it: a not-self thought, a familiar fear, an old story. Transference is trickier because it operates at the level of motivation itself, the “why” underneath your actions, which is exactly the level most people never think to question. Your conscious Sun and Earth are the closest thing you have to “the I I think I am.” When that layer gets skewed, everything downstream of it feels perfectly reasonable, because the mind is very good at rationalizing whatever it’s already decided to do.

The place to start noticing this is the body, not the mind. Correct decisions, correct feeding, and feeding here means more than food; it includes everything you take in as information and experience, and correct environment all come first. Get those three foundational pieces right and clarity becomes available. Skip them, and no amount of insight will hold, because you’re trying to think your way out of a body-level problem.

The signpost that gives it away

Once you’re seeing clearly, correct motivation has a specific, almost binary quality to it: you’re seeing things one way or another, and that seeing is either aligned or it’s skewed, not bad, just off. For me personally, that shows up as a very particular tell: whenever I catch myself getting pulled into questions like who’s winning, who’s losing, who’s up, who’s down (that pull to disengage, followed by a wave of bitterness) that’s the signature of being transferred out of my own alignment. Bitterness, in this system, is one of the clearest signposts there is that someone has drifted off their own track.

Recognizing this in real time is a genuine additional tool, on top of your ordinary decision-making strategy. It doesn’t replace strategy and authority. It’s an early-warning system that tells you when to check in with them more carefully.

When someone can’t seem to follow their own strategy

Here’s a practical note for anyone working with others, formally or informally: if a person is genuinely struggling to follow their own decision-making strategy no matter how many times it’s explained, the fix usually isn’t a better explanation. It’s going back to the beginning (the body, the brain-body system, the most foundational layer of the Primary Health System) especially if their determination runs toward the more homogenized, externally-scanning pattern. You can’t run sophisticated software on a machine that hasn’t been cleaned out first.

A gentle warning about people-pleasing

One of the most common ways transference shows up day to day: suppressing your own actual motivation in order to please someone else, or taking an action just to keep the peace rather than because it was genuinely correct for you. This is especially common in close bonds, where the pull to keep things smooth can quietly override what your own frequency was actually asking for. Notice whether you’re being pulled toward an action by someone else’s agenda before you act on it.

Give it time

None of this resolves overnight. Deconditioning at this depth is a layered process, each recognition peels back one more layer, and there’s always another layer underneath. Operating in real alignment, when it happens, gives you access to your full cognitive and intuitive range. Transference, when it’s running the show, quietly takes all of that access away without you noticing it’s gone.
