Planting One's Purpose

This month I entered my Chiron Return, the once in a lifetime flowering of one’s full incarnative human potential.

If that Chiron/Kiron means nothing to you yet, here is the short version. Chiron orbits the Sun roughly every 49 to 51 years, so if you’re lucky, you meet your Chiron Return once, somewhere around age fifty. In the lineage I work in, it is not read as a crisis. It is read as life’s curriculum window: a defined stretch of time when a long-running pattern becomes clear enough to actually work with. Ra Uru Hu, founder of the HD system would say that “The Kiron represents no continuity to the past. Think about that: No continuity to the past. It’s not intended to. It is like, all right, you’ve done course A and course B, now we’re going to have a whole new process, because that’s what it is.”

I had mine read properly to myself, by myself, as myself. As a professional licensed and certified teacher of the System entering my third seven-year deconditioning cycle and training others for 12+ years in it, I am a firm advocate of understanding the mechanics from experience, because that is how I’m designed to personally teach. And I want to share the deepest level of what surfaced with you, because the structure of it is useful well beyond my own chart example.

Here is the line that stayed with me: competence is the completed experiment and that’s what brings growth.

Not the ongoing one. The finished one. The reading’s claim is that I am not being asked to run more experiments — I am being asked to formalize and explain the forty-nine years of them I have already run. The keynote on this part of the chart reads: trial and error assists the completion of a cycle, and that’s what brings growth, and the ability to let go is intrinsic to increase.

That reframed the whole decade for me. The work of this window culminates in the discoveries of my life’s work and sharing them. It is now about explaining and structuring the foundation of my knowings; writing down, in a form that can be handed to someone else, what I already know from this and prior lifetimes but have never codified altogether.

Why I am telling you this

Three reasons, and none of them are simply “go get your chart read.”

First: your hardest, most repetitive challenge, pattern or experience is probably not a defect despite the sense that you think it may be “what’s wrong with you” as your conditioned mind might say. It is usually an immature version of a real capability. Most people spend years trying to fix the “what’s wrong with me” issue. The more useful move is to find the capability it is a rough draft of.

Second: timing is real leverage. Knowing which season of life you are actually in — building, completing, or releasing — changes what you will say yes to. A cycle reading (30s, 40s, 50s, 60’s) like this Chiron I’m explaining my lessons from functions as a decision filter. Mine showed me which invitations to decline this year, and why.

As an example, transitioning from my 30s to 40s to 50s cycle showed me by environment/perspective (mine’s the channel of Community) to help us take the high ground so that we can survive together.

The wound

Mine was a specific loop I ran my whole life until recently: the sense that I am not yet adequate to order the thing in front of me — and the drive to do it anyway. Every project launch, every curriculum draft, every first page. I would ask for a framework, then reject the framework when it arrived. Commit to a structure, then find it intolerable because I’d find the flaws and see through the lies — I can really see now that I had to do everything my own way, no choice.

No matter what.

For decades, I read that as a flaw. The reading is blunt: it is not. It is a mechanism. The attempt is correct. What was missing was a way to trust myself despite difficulties and explain what was actually working.

The key

That capacity turned out to already exist, running underneath my awareness the whole time. The body knows the difference between what is fertile and what is sterile: what can grow, and what will not, no matter how much effort you pour into it. The mind tends to override that signal out of sunk cost and attachment. Have you ever “thrown good money after bad” like me? I remember spending $30K to get my business back up to speed after a medical leave… and continuing useless work while my body was screaming at me. The Chiron work gave me the framework to trust the body’s discernment as the authority on what to do next.

Why a Chiron Return Analysis is worth getting

The Chiron Return is the one transit reading that is structurally different from every other one. A solar return covers a year (the most important one after your foundation analysis, per Ra). An Incarnation Cross Analysis covers your Life’s Purpose. A Saturn, second Saturn or Uranus cycle covers a chapter of your life.

The Chiron Return is not bounded that way. What is set in motion at the threshold runs for the next thirty-odd years, all the way to your death or if you’re lucky, till the Uranus Return takes hold at 84 (the age we are designed to get to healthfully). The clarity you take from the reading compounds across that whole arc. The decisions you make from it do not reset next January.

A Chiron Return reading does five specific things:

It tells you which costume you are now being asked to wear. The cycle Profile is not the same as your natal Profile (even if it looks like it on the surface, because the substructure is different). Mine is a 3/5 by birth; my Chiron cycle Profile is a 1/3 — investigate first, then test and lead from a solid foundation. Without knowing yours, you may keep performing the old gear and read the dissonance as something being wrong with you. With it, you switch operating modes with awareness instead of confusion or doubt.

It maps the stage. The nodal environment of the cycle tells you the kind of room the next phase plays out in — for me, family and community, not the universal stage. Most people exhaust themselves trying to perform the previous phase’s stage on the new one. The reading tells you to what to watch for and stop.

It names what is being bridged. If you carry a split definition, the cycle often connects it. Mine becomes a single definition for the rest of my life. That sense of wholeness will arrive — and you will be tempted to attribute it to whichever relationship, project, or role happens to be present when it lands. The reading lets you see the bridge as the cycle’s, not the person’s. That single distinction saves years of misattribution.

It identifies what is being dismantled. The Chiron marks no continuity to the past. Some of what worked in the previous chapter will stop working in the next. Knowing which structures are now obsolete lets you end them cleanly, rather than drag them past their expiration date or mourn their loss. This one is a huge relief to know!

It hands you a decision filter that holds. Because the cycle does not expire, the criteria you take from the reading function as a long-running yes/no test. Every invitation, role, and offer for the rest of your life can be run through this newfound awareness.
