From Seven Chakras to Nine Centers: What Actually Changed in Us

Ra taught that the human being has shifted energetic structure more than once, from three centers to five to seven to nine. Here is what that history means for how you make decisions today.

People see the nine centers on a body graph and assume they’re looking at a fancier chakra chart. They’re not, and the difference matters more than it sounds like it should.

Ra taught that the human structure has changed more than once. We started as a three-centered creature. That became five. The five became seven, and stayed seven for roughly 90,000 years, developing what we’d recognize today as self-reflective consciousness through the Ajna and the head. Then in 1781, according to Ra’s research, that seven-centered structure gave way to the nine-centered one we carry now. The body graph you were born with doesn’t change again during your lifetime, but the species itself has kept moving.

The Seven-Centered Human Was a Real Thing, and It Wasn’t Us

The seven-centered structure Ra called Homo sapiens matches the classical Hindu chakra system almost exactly: seven energy points, kundalini rising from the root to the crown. That structure built everything we still credit ourselves for: technology, medicine, sanitation, the whole apparatus of civilization. It also built seven-centered religions, a morality of right and wrong, and the idea that unity or salvation was something you reached outside the body, often after death.

That structure was strategic by nature. It oriented toward what could be seen, smelled, tasted and secured. It’s not a criticism to say we’ve inherited a lot of that programming. It’s just a fact of biology and history, and most of our institutions are still built on it.

Homo Sapiens in Transitus

We are not that seven-centered being anymore, but we’re not the fully formed nine-centered human either. Ra called us Homo sapiens in transitus: a transitional form. The nine-centered structure is complete on the page, but the solar plexus, our emotional awareness function, hasn’t finished developing. Right now it runs mostly as motor force rather than settled awareness, which is part of why emotional clarity can feel like something you’re waiting for rather than something you simply have.

That transitional state is also why the mind still runs the show for most people, even though the body, not the mind, is what’s actually living this life. The personality is more of an observer riding along. When the mind is left in charge of decisions instead of your strategy and authority, you get the bleed-through of old seven-centered patterning: control by force, justification, seeking rightness. When you let the body’s design lead instead, something different opens up.

Personality and Design Are Not Two Separate People

One detail worth sitting with: your personality (your psychological nature) and your design (your physiological nature) aren’t two things you’re choosing between. Ra described it as a binary, and one plus one doesn’t equal two here, it equals a third thing. You never really know just your personality or just your design in isolation. You know the combination, the way you never fully know your own nature apart from someone you’re in relationship with, only the thing the two of you become together.

That’s part of why “follow your mind” and “follow your body” aren’t equally reliable instructions. The mind changes constantly with transits and cycles. Your decision-making strategy is the one thing that stays consistent for your entire life, because it’s built into the design side of that binary, not the personality side.

Why This Matters More Than It Sounds Like It Should

If you’re still operating from a seven-centered framework (mind in charge, morality as the measure, meaning deferred to some future or afterlife) you’re going to keep bumping into resistance that has nothing to do with a flaw in you. It has to do with running nine-centered hardware on seven-centered software. Letting the body take over, and trusting your strategy and authority instead of your justifications, is how you start operating in the structure you actually have.

If you want to see how this shows up on your own centers, pull up your free chart and notice where you’re carrying open centers that are still picking up seven-centered conditioning from the people and transits around you. That’s usually the clearest place to start experimenting with a different way of deciding.
