Mastering your System
Projectors are here to master systems so that they can be successful guides for others. Understanding a system to the core cultivates in the Projector the ability to recognize what is going on in the world around them, even inside of the other, perceiving directly how the process of enlivenment might be helped along through awareness.
Dear Projector, if you're reading this, the very first system you need to master is your own physiology. Not by domination, but by recognizing how your Design speaks its nature through your body, through your sensory contact with the environment, as it is received in awareness. We don't do any of our sense perceptions after all, we simply receive them as they are filtered by the Design.
In relation to your environment, you exist in a projection field. Projection is nothing bad (don't be fooled by much of the conventional interpretations in psychotherapy). The projection field is part of how you experience life, as well as your integration into the world - it is a mirror for you. What and whom you are drawn to connect with, how you perceive what is out there, is a reflection of your own state and condition.
Learning the language of your own biology is key to understanding the way in which the Design operates in its wholeness. Recognizing directly that we're all breathing together in a single continuous body - and that it has a nature. This is something that is constantly being communicated to you through the projection field.
You can learn the biological language of this system of life by studying how your form functions in relation to your environment - noticing its cycling through dualities of up and down, hot and cold, stimulation and neutral, acceleration and deceleration, energy availability and rest, intensification and deintensification, movement and stillness, doing and non-doing...
noticing the rhythms, the way things wiggle and oscillate as they pattern themselves, the way in which things respond to each other organically...
noticing the way in which the attention is naturally beckoned towards beauty and the simple, gentle pleasure of sensory stimulation...
noticing the way in which other bodies move and hold themselves up, without getting distracted by the personality layering on top...
noticing that all of this is already available without us needing to create any of it... There is seeing already happening.
All of this is what will reveal to you the nature of the Design, the intelligence that informs everyone's decision-making Authority, whichever one it may be.
Every system (including yourself) contains oscillation, and in that oscillation the Design brings messages of support from the unconscious to the conscious. You might recognize these as felt qualities that show up: your hand suddenly reaching up to carefully support your head, fingers stroking your lips or the side of your cheeks, a gentle rocking back and forth as you sit, feet that suddenly wiggle... and then, as we notice that contact, perhaps a quality of ease showing up elsewhere in the body. Soothing. Stabilizing. More present.
In the general Maya of Mind we pay little attention to these signals. We've been conditioned not to value them and even try to hide them or change them out of a sense of vulnerability or shame for looking weird. We were never taught to simply allow them to be and to drink them in. The Personality and the Design may have been placed into a forced marriage, as Ra liked to describe it, but they can have a communication of care and love. Between conscious and unconscious. Self to Self.
In the Not-Self we can get caught up in the negativity of the mind, absorbed and seeking a way out, running in circles, not noticing how good it feels to simply feel the temperature of our hand on our face for an extended moment of time. A simple gesture, but exactly the right quality of support in the right place at the right time, with the right intensity, not too much, not too little, providing us with an enjoyable portal back to our senses in the present.
In these times of crumbling support infrastructure around us, we may discover innate support emerging from our own depths. Not because we went digging and excavating into our darkness with the mind in the hope of finding the light, but because we made the effort to reclaim our attention back from the addiction to the Not-Self. Because we trained the mind to see differently. Because we opened up the door to awareness and invited the intelligence of the Design into the live conversation we are having with the world in every moment.
The more your mind can reside in the natural movement of your Design and track it, receptive to what it brings to you without overamplifying it, the more you'll understand the operating system we're all embedded in. The more your own nature is integrated within you, the more you'll recognize it effortlessly outside of you. And wisdom begins to flourish in your undefined centers. This is a biological cellular knowing, not a superficial mental memorization of 'how things are supposed to be' or copy-pasted wisdom from elsewhere to try and make an impact. The ocean of neutrino information simply flows through you, and you know what you need to know.
The more you can surrender your eyes to go where they want to go, seeing what they want to see while ignoring the delusional interpretation process of the Not-Self agenda, the more your Strategy and Authority can begin to truly unfold moment to moment.
This is vital for how we navigate the spaces between invitations. As Projectors, we too must be correct moment by moment, even though we might wait for the right invitation for years. In between invitations, what we take care of is our eyes (including our third eye), gifting ourselves the ability to perceive clearly. This is what the other Types need from us. To help them recognize where the unconscious Design already wants to go, and how we might get organized around that.
And all of this begins by recognizing when enough is enough. Recognizing when your system is making the shift from acceleration to deceleration, activity to rest. If you're reading this, I invite you to take a few moments to simply let go into wonder, without trying to create anything new. Perhaps gently asking yourself these questions, slowly, one by one, to nourish your seeing and guide your own awareness:
1) If I let my eyes go where they want to go, wandering around in the external environment, where do I notice the greatest sense of ease?
2) Without mental interpretation, what are these eyes already seeing that I may not have noticed before?
3) What are the physical properties of that? Can I see its color, texture, shape? How does that register to my awareness, without me trying to do or create any of it?
4) If I stay with this just a little while longer, lingering at this contact surface of awareness with the external world, as my eyes easily go where they want to go, might I notice something different than before? Is there something new?
5) After having wondered freely for a little while, how do I feel overall compared to before?

The Projector's Subtle Habit of Initiating

Dear Projector,
Your curiosity is something that probably many Projectors encounter about their own behaviour in relation to others along the way. And how incredible to get to this place of questioning something that seems to be a very ordinary thing to say:
“I would like to spend time with you sometimes. :)”
Is this actually an initiation? If so, how many other ordinary interactions or messages we text to others frequently could be initiations?
It’s quite a radical thing to ask ourselves. How could we tell? And does it mean that statements like this are incorrect every time?
Laveena often says in her classes that Strategy and Authority, particularly for Projectors, are for the big things in life that really change things up for us: the people we spend time with, the relationships we have, the places we stay in, where we live, the work we do, etc. However, for day-to-day navigation and regular interaction with friends and relatives, many Projectors experience the need for a more refined tool to help them navigate the subtleties – as not every single thing comes with an explicit, loud and clear invitation. And it's not like we can use S&A for the big things and then return to mental decision-making in between...
After his first few years of teaching the Human Design system, Ra approached Projectors with an apology.
He said he’d done them an injustice because so much of his attention had been focused on trying to get Generators to respond. He came to realize that Strategy and Authority was too limited for Projectors. Ra added Color Transference as another essential tool for our Type to recognize what contexts and interactions are correct for us, and which ones are not. He introduced it as a ‘power that we (Projectors) never had before’.
Color Transference is something that operates at a level below the Line, so it requires a more subtle level of perception and awareness to see it. Projectors more readily operate at that level, though it may take some years of deconditioning for the brain fog to clear enough so that we can see the phenomenon at work. It's part of the Four Radical Transformations of Human Design.
The two main Color Transference tools we were given are Color Motivation (Personality Sun/Earth) and Perspective (Personality Nodes).
You may already know your Color Motivation, Perspective and Transference, but before I talk about how it applies to this process of learning how not to initiate, I just want to clarify things a bit more for those who are new to the mechanism.
A great piece on this by Ra to start off with is this one:
Here Ra talks about these tools that we as Projectors can use in relation to others in order to develop our seeing as passenger consciousness. He explains in detail the dilemma we have with Strategy and Authority alone, and how we can turn it into a problem when it doesn’t have to be one.
One of the things he says here is this:
“You get an invitation from somebody, you enter into that correctly, but the reality is if you're watching your process during the course of the time you're with them, you'll notice that there'll be a shift to your distraction. You're suddenly being pulled away from what's correct for you and it is in those moments where you need to recognize you’re being conditioned and watch that conditioning.
Because this is what it's all about. And being able to SEE the conditioning, gives you a way out.
Very hard for projectors to go like this. It's very hard to say “I need your generating and manifesting but not now.” There's this fear that you don't get it back, there's this fear that you lose it. There is this deep deep drive inside to hold onto… that connection no matter how you end up rationalizing that in your design.
So it becomes very important for you to begin to see the way in which you are being influenced on an ongoing basis by those beings around you. And remember why we see this. Not to end the relationship. This is not about that. It's not about saying “this person is terrible for me and I never want to see them again”, it isn't about that at all. It's about your potential, to actually SEE them conditioning you.
Most people think that you need to have a solution “Let's stop the conditioning" and so on… We don't want to stop conditioning. The only time that you can stop conditioning, is when you die. Conditioning ends at death. Until then it's a part of our lives. It doesn't have to be something that's negative. It doesn't. It could be the most fascinating thing in your life.”

In this article, we’ll just focus on Color Motivation. Laveena has already written some rich articles on the subject which you can find here:
In a nutshell, below the level of the Line we have further layers of differentiation: the Color, the Tone and the Base – this is called the ‘substructure’ out of which everything we see on the surface of the Bodygraph emerges. Layer after layer, our frequency works its way up from the depths of the Base to the surface of the Line as it differentiates into a precise and nuanced expression of consciousness in form. This substructure is the way in which the crystals of consciousness operate as they filter the neutrino information feed.
Now, Color Motivation is the state of mind that you are pulled into by your environment and the people you interact with.
It creates the cognitive filter for how you take information in and how you learn. This state of mind is informed by your sense perception, which takes place at the level of the Tone - but we don’t need to go into that much detail here. Similar to our 6 Lines, there are 6 different Color Motivations named Fear, Hope, Desire, Need, Guilt and Innocence. To know which one applies to you your time of birth must be quite accurate and you’ll need to access software that can produce charts with this information (all popular HD software I know of can show it).
When you are able to watch your mind, when you can observe what’s going on in there without identifying with its ‘I’ as being who you are, then you can witness these layers of the mechanics live at work.
You can notice the scripts of the Lines as the voice in the head chatters away, you can notice the adaptive Not-Self strategies from the undefined centers show up as mental agendas and proposals for action (“if I do this, then I’ll get that”). And you can notice the Color Motivation – it is the overall state of mind you are in, the underlying quality that animates your thinking.
Each of us has a correct Color Motivation that is pure, that allows our Personality to assimilate information and express Outer Authority. However, it is also a binary.
Color is something that is moving and dynamic, it swings constantly from its correct frequency to its distracted counterpoint like a pendulum. When the Color frequency shifts, it undergoes a process called Transference.
Transference means the frequency shifts over to its harmonic opposite. Fear shifts to Need, Hope shifts to Guilt, Desire shifts to Innocence and the other way around in each case. When this occurs, we experience a distorted quality of that Color Motivation. It becomes disconnected from correct cognition.
This means we do not see clearly and the mind tends to freak out about this because it temporarily has no access to awareness, and it doesn’t know when awareness is going to be restored – it is blinded.
When you look at your own Transference Color Motivation you can add the word ‘blind’ in front of it to make its quality very clear: blind fear, blind hope, blind desire, blind need, blind guilt, blind innocence. Each one of them is an unintelligent expression of mind, and one of them will be particular to you.
This is not something that is bad or wrong. You don’t have to try to fix it. But it is also not a basis to make decisions from – it is something to observe. We need this contrast in order to distinguish what our pure Color Motivation is. It helps us recognize correctness from incorrectness. It is not something we can do anything about, we can only learn to abide more and more deeply by S&A as opposed to overreact from the Not-Self.

So having explained the basics a bit, we can return to your inquiry, Roxana.
Is the text message “I would like to spend some time with you sometimes. :)” really an initiation?
What makes you think so? Did you feel bitter some time afterwards?
Giving this some thought myself, looking at examples in my own life, it seems to me that the Color Motivation can be a determining factor. It’s what turns a message like that into an initiation as opposed to a simple expression of appreciation and transparency. To me, the key seems to be the energy the message was written with, not the actual words themselves.
I think you could write the exact same sentence to two different people and one would be an initiation and the other would not be. What would make the difference?
One would carry the energetic charge of some kind of attachment to an outcome, some kind of anticipated fulfilment of the agenda your mind was crafting the message with, rooted in your undefined centers. The other would carry the charge of non-attachment, a simple voicing of appreciation for your friend, without the pressure for them to even reply or respond to it. Color Motivation Transference is a tool that you can use to recognize one from the other in the act of writing.
What state of mind are you in? What energy motivates your communication?
Roxana, in your case, were you in an emotionally clear place within yourself? Were you motivated by intelligent Need or blind fear?
From my personal experience, Color Motivation Transference can show up with varying degrees of intensity, from very subtle craving to full-blown desperation. In any case, when it shows up and we act on it, we’re tapping directly into the Not-Self strategies of our undefined centers.
So, through the undefined G’s endless search for love, identity and direction, was your mind worried about losing this person in your life?
Was your mind craving for the Life Energy of the Sacral to be turned on again?
Did the other person give your undefined Heart external validation of self-worth to boost your mental self-esteem?
Or were you feeling mentally anxious or bored looking for someone inspiring to focus on?
Maybe it’s someone special who just seems to draw out this incredible information from you that not everyone does.
For Split Definitions like you and me, our minds might be motivated to try and find a bridge that connects the islands of our Definition together. It’s likely that the person you were texting is someone who bridges your wide split, making you feel more whole when you are together with them.
In a state of blind fear I assume there can be a confusion about other people. The mind can start to obsess about survival risks, attaching to others in order to find security. You might experience mental worry about losing the bond you have, not wanting to make any mistakes. Or you might not know whether you can trust other people and get lost in alienation, too afraid of everything.
Correctly motivated, on the other hand, it could be good to let your partners know how important they are to you.
To share a bit from my experience: in some relationships, people have very explicitly invited me to feel free to engage with them as I please. In other relationships, I can feel the expectation from the other for me to initiate them, but without any recognition or invitation towards me to actually do so. I can notice disappointment in them that I’m always waiting for them to make the first move, and my mind thinks ‘I should’ initiate something with them in order to maintain the bond, but there’s no genuine energy in me moving in that direction. So, I think the relational context sets the stage for how much freedom a Projector can have in how they interact.
To me, particularly as a Wide Split Definition, what does matter is to express the real difference someone’s presence makes in my life. To have a secure bond it is important that we are aware of what it’s built upon – without that being a burden or an expectation.
Having said this, I also find that this open freedom to engage does not always provide my Projected Channels the energy to actually show up. Perhaps these beings love to have me around and interact with me, but don’t actually recognize me for any of my specialties. Perhaps I don’t need to be saving the day with everyone all the time 24/7 either. These are things I also wonder and am learning about. We’re all walking paradoxes trying to find our balance between this and that.
My sense is that it's the invitation that energizes the Projected Channel to function correctly. When there is a correct invitation, there is something specific - there is a context with your name on it ready to receive your input.
There is an aliveness waiting for your guidance. It isn’t random, it’s a body specifically calling for yours, it’s the wider ecosystem asking you to fulfil the role you were designed for so that life and consciousness can continue to evolve.
As I’m writing, the Definitive Book is lying open on page 354. It shows Gate 11: Peace – Ideas. Many people have ‘ideas’ in their minds about what they would like to do and who they would like to do it with...
But the secret of this Gate is that these ideas are not for manifesting into action, they are simply there to share and stimulate us - and this will have an effect, but not necessarily the actual realization of that particular idea into physical form or experience.
I’ve noticed many people in my social circles feeling so powerless because their ideas are never fulfilled. They think they have this great idea and they just need to find the right person who will value it and provide the energy to make it happen – and it never does. They may take a few steps in that direction until the creativity falls flat and they feel slightly frustrated, bitter, disappointed or even angry that it just didn’t work out again.
My reasoning here is that those ideas are top-down impositions from the mind that are not rooted in any local physical context or situation at hand – they won’t evoke a generative response to make them happen. They are inspired by the past and give rise to beliefs and stories.
The 3rd Line of this Gate, the material Line, is called ‘The realist: The acknowledgment that peace is transitory’. Its exaltation says: ‘The realization that ideas come and go’. Its detriment says: ‘A pleasure in ideas that have no real application’.
Our 3rd Line process here is not about materializing the idea through trial and error, it’s about finding peace in the realization that these stimulating ideas are beautiful as such and don’t need to be carried out – even when we feel bored or conflicted about life.
So why am I talking about Gate 11? Because it highlights to me an important concept: relevance and irrelevance. Only when something is relevant to the movement of Life Force will it be enlivened by the call.
We have many ideas about where we think we’re going, what we might do together, and so on. Our imagination may be filled with beauty, but ultimately it is the unfolding process of the form that actually materializes. We don’t make it happen, we are it happening as we witness it.
Yet I think that many of our common interactions with people - the subtle text messages, the emoticons and gifs we use, the ways in which we stimulate each other with memes and ideas - can be these small nudges of trying to push life into the direction of an idea we hope to see fulfilled. An idea that in the end is irrelevant to the life process – especially when it arises out of a mind in Transference.
Whatever it all might be, in the end, may not matter very much. If you know the Design of the person you were texting you could make a few connections and perhaps learn an interesting thing or two about yourself. But the importance here would be to find clarity about your own inner state of mind, as the conditioning reverberates through your openness. The same would apply to any other kind of ordinary interaction that we could easily take for granted.
Roxana, to be able to recognize subtle forms of initiation and misinforming hidden behind ordinary gestures and communication, all you really need is to watch your mind and recognize its condition. Then notice if it’s pushing you to act spontaneously while disregarding your emotional wave and how you genuinely feel, ignoring what you have actually been recognized and invited for in that relationship.
According to what I’ve learned in Laveena’s classes, this may take more deconditioning time for you as a Quad Right Variable. This is because your Right brain needs to be fed correct nutrition for a longer period of time in order to function optimally again.
(The same would be true for any other Variable with a Right brain. So for anyone else reading, grab a chart that shows you the arrows of your Variable next to the head. If your upper left red arrow points to the Right, then you've got a Right brain too.)
Remember that Transference is not something bad or wrong, it’s a natural process of learning through observation. It is not something that you are doing, it is not something that you need to get right. It’s something that happens as a consequence of how your environment, and the beings in it, impact you.
As you said in your message, you’re experiencing more and more how these things work for you and that’s all this is really about, no?
To be able to live life this way with enough self-love to embrace the whole experience, watching ourselves grow in awareness on this journey through space – isn’t that the greatest gift?

In Human Design, we have a very different view of what constitutes maturity age-wise when it comes to our life cycles compared to the homogenized world, henceforth known here on our site as "sheep."
Have you ever lived next to sheep? Obnoxiously loud creatures. And the smell!
In Human Design, Ra trains us to be wolves. Welcome to the pack, my friends.
The end of our 9-Centered childhood is 30, when the most intense aspect of our Saturn Cycle kicks in, which is what I like to call our growing pains.
The beginning of our 9-Centered maturity is 38-44 depending on our Uranus Opposition date. We know this collectively as the "mid-life crisis" as things really shift in our lives. I happen to be stepping foot into this magical time.
The flowering of our full 9-Centered potential begins at age 50, during our Kiron return. Ra jokingly said, "human beings are useless before 50." How's that for a heretical perspective? More on the Kiron Cycle in this video.
In sheeplandia, 50 is idealistically thought of as a time to retire early, if you're really lucky, to quit work and enjoy life.
In wolflandia, 50 isn't anywhere near over the hill, but the beginning of a new Cycle when the fun really begins! Especially for those of us lucky enough to be living lives in alignment.
In Human Design, a Kiron Return reading is recommended for anyone who has completed a 7-year deconditioning Cycle; most especially it is highly recommended for all 6th line beings. Your natal chart combined with your Kiron chart explains what the highest flowering of your potential is. The Kironial activations shows the good conditioning required for you to fulfill your life's work.
Our current human vehicle is Uranian (unusual) in nature, a transitional creature between the 7-Centered Saturnian body and the coming RAVE mutation of our human species. Uranus dictates when we finally end the cycle of taking in the experiences necessary to set the stage for the rest of our lives. Between 38-44, we finally become adults, at a mature stage where we begin to breathe out our gifts in preparation for planting our life's work (Incarnation Cross) in the fertile soil of our Kironian Phase (beginning at age 49-50).
There is an important SHIFT that happens from before your Uranus Opposition to after your Uranus Opposition. You leave behind the South Nodes (Ketu) and enter into the world dominated by your North Node (Rahu) themes.
To remember which is which, think "Ra Uru Hu developed Human Design for our future" Ra - Hu or Rahu is the direction we move towards into the future, the North Node. Rahu is a term Ra borrowed from Vedic Astrology.
We can liken Nodal Oppositions to those really long roads you find in big cities. Where the name of the road changes, the scenery changes, but you are still going in the same direction as you are on the same road. Nodes are the path populated with people where you be (unconscious design) and frames how you see (conscious personality).
As I enter into my Uranus Opposition to finally become a 9-Centered Adult (age 44 for me) I am transitioning to fulfilling my purpose in a radically different environment. Instead of the mind's Tribal Defense environment and Collective Abstract view, I'm entering the realm of bonding through an Individual Knowing environment and donning Capitalistic Tribal Leadership Support glasses.
My physical environment is designed to be populated by highly selective Risk-Takers who want to know what makes life meaningful beyond survival, colored by being at a higher vantage point to intuit what others cannot (28.2.4.2). My conscious perspective is maturing to one of having a Conservative, Objective, personal viewpoint of what can endure despite fear of financial failures (32.6.6.1).
I have many family members, acquaintances, friends, students, and clients in my life with the 27-28 and 42-32 sun/earth axis. When that happens to match the exact line value, that is an indicator of a Karmic Relationship.
In my design, I have a host of important memory circuit gates discerning what information is of relevance to us. If you don't know what the memory circuit gates are, it is an advanced area of circuitry; I teach them in the first year of our Professional Analyst Training classes.
I found as I got closer to my Uranus Opposition, I have a lot more energy and inspiration to write you stories of what I remember as an HD teaching tool. This is especially true right now as my throat is too sore from Hashimotos to speak as much as I would like to communicate with you, my beloved HD family!
The Aura carries information, it is what creates the form, not the other way around according to Ra. Any information we take in and what we are designed to breathe out forms the foundation of our 9-Centered Outer Authority, or the modern Awakened Life.
Enlightenment is our normal state of Being, and it is uniquely experienced by each of us.
Living with a
"Broken Spirit"
The Human Design System describes all four Nodes in an undefined state like mine, as where the "Spirit can be Broken."
What is the nature of your Spirit? Put simply, it is the highest vibrational expression of the frequency of your being. In this duality of Being consciousness embodied in form, we all have a Signature of our Auric Type. That Signature is the essence of your Spirit shining through.
There are many secrets that the bodygraph holds in coming to grips with and accepting our evolutionary process. Over the years as I mentor professional students in unlocking their potential, I know I explain so many little-known bodygraph secrets that need to be shared more broadly so that we as a community can learn and grow together.
One of those is the state of a complete lack of the Lunar Nodes' definition in a natal chart, which I implement the analysis of in my deeper chart readings and teach you how to do as a professional analyst. Personally, I am one of these people whose nodes are in undefined Centers.
Another way we can say this is that my environment is tremendously influenced by the people in my life who define them—an echo of the theme of a Projector, who is deeply dependent on others to recognize them.
Stories from my past,
an environment for the nurturing of growth
I've gone through extreme cycles of extremely poor and well-off thanks to my Fate my whole life. The success and bitterness cycle does not correlate with the bank balance, I can assure you. Born and raised mostly on the Big Island of Hawaii, I've lived in cars, on travertine, or concrete, to plywood floors or rotted wood and dirt floors alike.
As a kid, I remember building two of our own houses (my dad was a plasterer so I got to help). One of them was a Hawaii-style "coffee shack" hanging off a cliff off Highway 11 (a two-lane road that was the only one circling the entire island) we rebuilt and added on to. The other was brand new construction and felt luxurious with each of us kids getting our own room, its jetted master jacuzzi tub in the upstairs master and a rec room below, in addition to the giant living room with open beam ceilings. The neighbors had peacocks that were so very loud!
After my mom disappeared on us when I was 11 life got really hard. The house we'd built with our hands was sold, and I lived with many close or distant family members and friends of the family, boyfriends, and alone renting rooms, moving 17 times over the next 6 years alone.
When the nodal environment is completely undefined, the life path can through dramatic changes depending upon who is in your life.
When I was young we used to tent camp on a piece of remote, rocky shoreline property about four miles south of Kealekekua Bay. It was 100-year lease land that my paternal grandmother had the right to use. There was a tin shed with a pool table and on Saturdays, there would be "chicken fights" where the locals would attach curved knives to the legs of the cocks and bet on the winner.
This was just one of the many places I later lived as a teen, as I had a fight with my Dad's wife here and left that home to live with others, including an aunt, a grandmother, my sister's godmother, and my mom until I emancipated myself at 16 and dropped out of high school to go to work.
There was an outhouse up the hill that was super scary for this non-defined splenic center child to walk over the rough lava rocks at night, despite the flashlight. Stories of "night marchers" the ghosts of ancient Hawaiian warriors filled my imaginative mind.
There was no electricity; we had an ice chest filled with ice from the gas station 20 minutes up the winding tropical road, batteries for the radio, and kerosene lamps with the glow of mosquito coils at night. My dad would take us fishing in a tiny boat and he'd gut the colorful reef fish we caught to cook on the lava rock firepit he built to cook our dinner.
We washed our dishes in the tidepools across the dirt road between us and the rocky lava rock shoreline. I remember loving to watch the fierce-looking moray eels come up from the depths of the ocean to thrash about while they ate our scraps.
My years spending summertime down there were mostly sweet childhood experiences; jumping off cliffs, swimming, fishing, tubing, playing in tidepools, reading. As a high school teenager years later, I found myself living there in this three-room padlocked beach shack built from job scraps with my dad, my 15-year-old sister with her baby, and later my Dad's new wife. The unpainted plywood windows we'd prop open with sticks to the salty breeze during the daytime, without screens blocking the epic expanse of a glittering ocean view.
The thunderous crash of the waves through the lava tubes was so strong it shook our little shack on stilts and the bed I shared with my generator sibling and niece when the ocean was rough. Salt spray covered everything, and a daily shower was necessary to sleep comfortably.
The shack had a small closet with a hole in the floor for water to pour out onto the ground where we "went au'au" or bathed ourselves in the lightless, windowless room and no door, using a bucket and a cup with water heated over a propane camping stove. We got our water lugged in 5-gallon buckets from a public faucet near the Captain Cook monument down mostly unpaved dirt and rock roads several miles away.
My dad drove a roaring F-150 red Ford pickup from the 80's with a black rack he'd strapped giant bull horns to the front of, and this hard-working vehicle was nicknamed the Red Bull. I smile when I think of that truck, as it took us down the steep Waipi'o Valley road (where the end of Waterworld was filmed) for our other summer family vacation adventures.
The way you discern who is supposed to be in your life is utterly unique to your design, as Projectors are quite complex. The simplest signpost is the sweetness that can be felt in the relationship. Is it sweet, do you feel the glow of success? Or is it bitter, leaving a sourness to the experience? Remember these keys, they serve us well as signposts of alignment or not in this Projector movie.

Needless to say with a childhood experience like this, I had an interest in personal finance and swore to myself that I would have a better life for my child than what I'd experienced.
I started around eighteen by studying mail-order real estate investment programs and learned from mailed newsletters, cassette tapes, and books about personal finances. There was no internet back then, so I'd done mail correspondence courses to keep learning until I got my GED around the time my schoolmates would have been graduating.
I often worked multiple jobs, sometimes from an hour before sunrise till well beyond the sunset. I started contributing to a Roth IRA at 21, working my way to what I thought would bring me the security of a good life, earning money, and self-educating with the goal of being a millionaire by the time I was 30.
I made it to my childhood goal, living what many consider a rich lifestyle thanks to my dedication to hard work and security a few years before the 2008 real estate crash. The millionaire status I thought would bring the success that I'd worked so hard to get to vanished in a series of unfortunate events many of us here in the states are familiar with.
After the crash, it was all I could do to keep myself from hurtling off the balcony of the 17th floor Little Italy condo in downtown San Diego. My mind certainly imagined it constantly. My then-husband and I had owned a real estate and mortgage brokerage in the East San Francisco Bay Area that went belly-up; losing three California properties, and all our retirement when the real estate market tanked nearly crushed us.
I found myself homeless, living week to week in a motel, carless, scrambling for a job (creating my own online as a social media marketing manager), eventually taking on random and fetish modeling gigs to get by, living in an RV, and then 5th wheel trailer with a toddler, a disabled and deeply depressed husband, and we were in bankruptcy court. I was incredibly ashamed to be on welfare and going to group therapy to battle suicidal thoughts.

Projectors Guide the Process
For all Advisers, the key thing to remember is that you do not have a consistent energy resource to generate worker-bee energy. You are not designed to go, go, go, go, go all the time. You have to pay attention to your body's need for breaks and rest. You are not designed to do all the doing yourself, but your mind may think that’s the solution. Unfortunately, believing your mind’s “I have to do this all by myself” thinking leads to burnout fast. The lesson here is learning that there is nothing wrong with your need to delegate or do things according to your timing.
Your success depends on having energetically healthy people around you who acknowledge your skills and offer you their energy resources to work with and to guide. When recognized, you excel at organizing and leading individuals, groups, and systems. You're here to see and connect with those who invite you to share what you know. It's hard to guide the process when you're caught up in thinking you have to do everything all by yourself. When others recognize your gifts and invite your advice on how you’re here to make things more efficient and effective, and you only accept the roles that are correct for you, you’re on the right track.
As a specialist working for short periods of time, through seeing the big picture and leading or guiding the process, you’ll taste the sweetness of success.
70% of the human population are Builders, so you may often find yourself trying to fit in or prove yourself to keep up with their go, go, go energy. The conditioning of being around so many Builders can lead you to push yourself into unhealthy states of exhaustion where your system can break down. If you're around people who are not healthy for you, you amplify the energy that can drain or weaken you. This situation can spiral downwards into all kinds of health issues.
If you're an adviser, your success depends on having energetically healthy people around you and leading and guiding the process when you’re recognized and then invited. You have the brilliant ability to bring people together and to maximize energy and resources. Remember that it's vitally important to take time to rest when needed in order to remain healthy. The most important thing for you to learn is extreme self-care.
Because so much of the world are Builders, you can often find yourself trying to live in their reality, trying to keep up with their energy. The myth of having to keep up can lead you to become a kind of super slave and cause you deep resentment. Pushing yourself can lead you into unhealthy states of exhaustion, where your system can start to break down.
If you're so focused on being seen for something you think you know, it can keep you from not allowing others to recognize you naturally. Sometimes you might find that you're struggling so hard to be appreciated that you may begin to be known for something out of integrity with your design’s natural gifts. For example, you might want a promotion and the only way you think you can get it is to be a super hard worker, wearing all the hats and doing everything yourself. When you feel sour at being passed up for a promotion and you think, “Why don't they see how hard I work?” oh boy, are you way off track! Bitterness is how you know that you're that trying too hard at something that is not your correct job.
Give advice only when you’re recognized and invited in order to guide others to do the doing in the most efficient, effective way possible. Learn to delegate! That's one of the most important solutions for you to remain healthy.
How to Recognize the Human Design Projector / BG5 Advisor Career Type
You can usually spot the Advisor by their intense gaze, intent focus, or penetrating stare. They’re usually studying something, and have an impressive global awareness. Some Advisors know a lot about many things, but once they find their passion they can be like Aspergians — super-focused on a particular area of interest.
Advisors are the most diverse of the career Types. There are many different decision-making strategies within these three sub-types of Advisor: Mental, Classic, and Energy Advisors. (We’ll go more into how to discover which kind you are in our free webinar training, stay tuned!).
All Projectors / Advisors have this in common: the Energy Resource (Sacral) is not defined, and there is no definition of any of the energy functions to the Communication and Action Function (Throat).
Most Advisors delight in being asked for what we see in terms of the big picture, how things fit together, and how things can be made for efficient or effective. We love being valued and appreciated for our perspective.
For Advisors, recognition is a two-way street. As an Advisor, you need to learn to trust the mechanics of your focused and absorbing presence. Relax into the knowing that you are designed to be seen and recognized.
You are also intended to see and acknowledge others. You work best when you can focus in on one person at a time, where you can focus on who they are and share what you see.
Just as you're designed to see and recognize others, so are you created to be seen and appreciated by others naturally. When you trust the subtle mechanics of your design, you open yourself up to truly hear the recognition and notice the invitations of others; that's where the magic happens for you.
Be your shining Self. There is nothing you need to "do” because who you naturally are as a guide for the other is enough.

How to Communicate as a Human Design Projector
Next time you are about to be in interaction with others, give this a try. Let go of expectations, open up your awareness, listen quietly and wait for that recognition and invitation. You may feel your whole body light up with recognition in return through what you see and know. You may be amazed at what others sense and what they recognize in you because we Advisors have a hard time seeing ourselves accurately.
As clear communication is key to the achievement of success in guiding others, here are some helpful tips on communicating with the other career types. These are simple strategies that can help you elevate your ability to communicate effectively. Using these little tips to communicate correctly with each of the different career types can create better results both personally and professionally.
Manifestors - the Innovators
Innovators need to be kept informed of their impact. Generally, the thing that really interests them is, “How can I make my mark in the world?” What they really want is to operate in peace and get things moving into action. So keep the Innovators in your life informed of things that impact their ability to do their job, and if they are your boss, co-worker or partner, keep them informed of things they are responsible for that impact your ability to do your job. Experiment with what it feels like to wait for them to initiate you into conversation or action unless you have a relationship where they've given you an open invitation to approach them.
Generators - the Builders
Builders are designed to respond. When you ask Builders simple questions that are not multiple-choice, but a direct yes or no, you're going to get the most authentic answer from their guttural response. You might hear "Ah huh," for a yes or "Uhn ahh," for a no, or "Hmmm." If it's a, "Hmmm," it's either no for right now, or you may need to ask the question again in a slightly different way. Manifesting Generators /Express Builders are more articulate and tend to skip steps. Pure Generators/Classic Builders need a step by step process of activity. Reading the response of a Builder is the way to know if they have the energy to complete the task or not. See what it feels like to wait for them to approach you first, and be sure to ask them back to confirm they have a response towards what direction or action they want to take.
Projectors - the Advisors
With fellow Advisers, it's all about recognition and invitation. When you authentically recognize the skills, talents, and abilities of an Adviser, and invite them to share what they see, this is where they truly shine. You can gain profound insight and see things that you may have otherwise overlooked simply by recognizing and inviting the Advisers to share.
Reflectors - the Evaluators
For the Evaluator, initiate them by including them according to how you see them fitting into the big picture. Keep them apprised of what you see their role being because often they can lose track of what their role should be. Evaluators like to belong, be involved and included, and they are wonderful for displaying how things are going when they are at the center of the business.

As an Adviser, the signpost of being on track is the sweetness of success. That feeling of success happens most often in the simple act of by being recognized and invited. Nothing feels better to an Adviser than being recognized for our gifts, talents, ways of seeing things.

Human Design Projector/ BG5 Advisor Off-track: Bitterness
If you sense you’re not being clearly heard or understood, that your words are falling on deaf ears or no one is seeing or appreciating your advice, you’re off-track. One of the gifts of knowing your Career Type is owning the signpost of being off-track. Bitterness is a signpost that you’re attempting to guide without a go-ahead from the other person or your decision-making strategy.
Advisors don't necessarily recognize that bitterness right away. When Advisors are deeply conditioned, they're lost in the land of frustration, trying to get all the doing done and burning themselves out. When we don't get recognized and acknowledged for our perspective, for what we know and how to make things better, we feel unseen, unvalued, unappreciated. When we are overlooked or left out, it leaves a bitter taste that's hard to swallow.
What does Bitterness show up like and when? From the Advisor’s perspective:
“Bitterness tends to show up as griping, complaining, negativity, and downright bitchiness. Sometimes it takes several days or even weeks for me to realize that I’m being a negative nelly about something and that’s when I realize that there isn’t a correct recognition in what I’m griping about and will take a look at what needs to change or if I just need to exit stage left and leave the situation all together.” Nathalie Marie-Collins, 2/4 Energy Advisor

The Art of Being A Projector

Human Design Reflector Auras have a teflon quality and practice the art of Evaluating - patiently waiting while sampling different people and environments throughout the moon's cycle to make a decision, and experiencing the surprise in life.

"The dilemma for the Projector is that because the Projector is new on this plane as a form type, they have a lot to learn. Having a lot to learn is a big story. It's a very big story.
This is the whole pressure now that is on Projectors that if they're not prepared, if they don't have the knowledge that is necessary for them, that they get steamrolled. They get rolled over by the energy forces that they've emerged out of. It’s sort of a nice bookend with the Reflector up there and the Projector down there, it really is. It’s this full movement, and in this full movement getting ready to complete this process.
So the better that Projectors are equipped to be able to articulate what they see in the other, what they see in a system, the system, any system is enormously important for the completion of this process.
Manifestors aren't interested, Generators are looking in on themselves, and if they're not-self, they don't see anything. So, there's a tremendous amount of pressure on the Projector as a force to guide beings.
When I say that, I don’t mean that personally. It’s an energy that’s in the world. It is a conditioning force in the world. So, the presence of Projector has already changed the way in which we look at things. That is, if you take a look at the way in which intellectually we've developed since 1781 that we’ve gone in two directions deeper and deeper and deeper inward and deeper outward. This is the result of the Projector.
The emergence of the Projector is also the emergence of the scientific revolution. It is the emergence of the modern world, not personal, if you want to pat yourself on the back you can." Ra Uru Hu
In this article, I hope to engage you with some education on the art of being a Projector.
That art is the Art of Recognizing.
Like all of the Arts, the key to perfecting is to practice. And in Human Design, we all have in common something to practice.
Do you know what that something is? Yup, you guessed it. Following our Strategy and Authority.
For adult Projectors, this is one of the most difficult things for us to do.
Because we are designed to be conditioned, and our waiting is primarily about the big things in life, it takes a focused determination and dedication to live our designs. As much as we've worked on ourselves and studied every system on the planet, it really takes seven years of deconditioning to begin to live life as ourselves. Cellular renewal takes time.
Hey, if you’re new to design and burnt out, stressed, overwhelmed and exhausted, take heart. I remember being right where you are 7 years ago and my body, health, relationships, life was a DISASTER. I know you can get through this. Stick with the Human Design program and experiment. Don’t give up. You can do this.
Projectors are the Most Complex Auric Type
Projectors are very complex beings, with so many different arrangements of possible definitions that can combine to make us who we are in the world. Being the “youngest” or “newest” of the Types, as we only started appearing on this planet in 1781, we are here for a very particular purpose.
We are here to Guide. Recognizing what guidance and when by waiting for the invitation and checking with our Authority first, protects us from the deep bitterness that we experience when we act prematurely and are failed to be properly recognized for our gifts.
A Projector’s Aura is the only one that penetrates into the core of the other, and in this way regularly exposes itself to the deepest kind of conditioning. Within this functioning lies the source of our Projector gift - to recognize how energy should be used.
Projector Recognition is a Two-Way Street
This gift of Recognition moves in two directions. Not only are Projectors gifted with the ability to recognize, we are given attributes that are designed to be recognized. We are magnetic beings, designed to attract attention. It is the frequency of our Aura that draws someone who sees and recognizes us for the particular qualities we carry and thereby invite our guidance into their lives.In fulfilling that recognition, we find our signature of success.
When we are operating correctly, we'll be recognized correctly and find that success. How do you know when you are operating correctly?
The key for a Projector to find success in life is to have a mastery of a system. In Human Design, it is important for you to recognize the “signposts” or clues that you are either on or off your path to fulfillment.
Are you consistently feeling bitterness or success?
Bitterness is like the bumps on the side of the road that tell you you’re off your path.
Do you know what your motivation is or the signs of transference?
“Um, what?” you say?
If you’ve been experimenting with Strategy and Authority, getting the hang of it, how about diving deeper into how you’re here to see your own Psychology at work. It’s not rocket science, and it is a key to a Projector Seeing. If you know your motivation/transference, are you watching for these signposts of your mind's control over your decision-making process?
These are tools the Human Design System makes available to us that are invaluable for informing our Projector process of Awakening to our true nature.
The trouble with most adult Projectors is, we have been deeply homogenized and conditioned from birth. Highly susceptible to the pressures to act like the Manifestors or Generators that our parents wanted us to be, we don’t know how to let go of all that and allow ourselves to just be Projectors.
So how do you "be" a Projector? Many of us are deeply enmeshed in a life we are not well suited for, on the edge of exhaustion and burnout, bitter about the jobs, mortgages and commitments that drain us. How do we live our designs?
It all comes back to Strategy and Authority. Only you can take this journey, when you are ready, and you take it alone. This doesn’t mean you have to be lonely. When we Projectors interact with and guide each other, we can be brilliant mirrors for each other in any kind of partnership - Parent/Child, Student/Teacher, Friends, Lovers, Business, etc.
As Projectors, we need to learn to wait for the recognition that we are designed for. Remember you can invite each other as a Projector use your Authority!
No matter WTF the excuse is
that your mind inside your head is telling you,
THAT’S NOT YOU
or why you should decide ANYTHING.
Projectors have the gift of being able to master systems, and are perfectly equipped to Guide in accordance with the particular characteristics unique to their chart. So it follows that Human Design would be an excellent system to master for those Projectors who are invited and follow their authority to study it.
As a Projector, right after I had my second reading, I downsized my lifestyle and let go of everything extraneous to study Human Design. No car. No cell phone. No eating out, no new clothes. Went completely minimal. Just studied and took classes for years (and still studying to this day).
Why? Because I was invited to. Then I recognized Human Design as an accurate, powerful and practical system that helps people to realize their unique potential. Life did not smooth out immediately, and I know sometimes I studied for not-self reasons, we all do.
"If you are really a Projector, everybody, who ever gets to know you, at some level or another will resent the fact that you are good at it. Because if you really are a good projector, boy do you slide. Things just come your way. They are just there. Everybody else is struggling for this and that, and you are just, its just there. And you see, you don’t get that until you are 100% ready to see if it’s there.
It’s the most difficult thing about being a projector because you are so deeply conditioned, that’s its just so difficult to just let go and start from scratch. Because you got all this stuff that you are hooked on. And all of this stuff that you think, because you are very connected to the way in which life on the planet is organized. In other words you are designed to have a specific relationship to the other, to groups, all of those things. But of course you can never develop that as long as you are like them. As long as you are not what you are. Only when you are really ready to be a projector I mean really ready to be a projector will you see, that it is all there for you.
Otherwise you don’t get to slide, you don’t. You really don’t, and that’s what your life is about. You are not tied down by generating and manifesting. They have rule and their rules are heavy rules. They have their own trip. Its not who you are, you are here to recognize. If you look at the energy on the planet and the way the energy is used by the planet, everybody knows even a simpleton, there is something wrong. You don’t have to be a political scientist to understand that there is something wrong in the way that all of this is working.
…any idiot can figure that out. But the reality is that the only way energy will be organized is if it is organized by Projectors. That’s what projectors are for. The dilemma is that they are not like me. They are not Manifestors that say “pay attention or fuck off.” Because you can’t do that as a projector, you can’t, they will beat you up, they will hurt you. So don’t ever do that let Manifestors do that.
So the dilemma is that you actually have to wait for them. Think about it, because when you think about it, it’s really wild. You have to wait for them to ask you to beat them up. You know what I mean? You have to wait for them to invite you to be in charge. You have to wait for them to ask you to do this and that so that they can get their energy trip together. See that’s the difference.
I tried to give you a sense of how profound your aura is, how powerful your aura is but you have to see something about aura. Your aura communicates. It does, it communicates. It communicates essential things. It is communicating your design to the other being. So let’s say you are a projector that has some tribal activation and obviously there is a part of you that can guide the way energy works in those environments. It’s in your aura. Its not like you have to put your hand up in the air and say I have got the 40-37 and I am a Projector. Do not do that, it is there. And if they don’t pick it up. So what? They are never going to be for you. Remember again you can’t get into “I missed it,” business." Ra Uru Hu
At this point of being in my 7th year, I know I’ve got a handle on the basics of design, because I’ve been learning to live as I teach them for years now. I’ve not only seen but FELT what this experiment can do to myself and to others. Good lord, I know so many people who are so relieved even just going through the first baby steps of design, it’s enormous what a difference living this knowledge makes over time!
I hope to continue to develop a deeper mastery of Human Design because I’ve tested it and found it to be correct for me. It supports a lifestyle that allows me to be a Projector - a specialist Advisor for short periods of time. I know it to be rewarding, revitalizing and renewing. I see the hope it's brought to myself and the people I know who've experimented with it, and I love empowering and sharing that hope with the world!

My Human Design Projector Advice:
Please consider that we as Projectors are all about guiding through asking the right laser focused questions.
Has anyone ever asked you a question that cut straight to the core of the issue? Have you ever done the same for someone else? Seen the BIG PICTURE view and narrowed down to the absolute essential nature of what needs to be addressed to get to the heart of the matter and bring things to light?
This is a brilliant example of how Projectors advise.
Question asking is the most powerful thing you can master as a Projector. Yet it must come naturally, you need to see the relevance and how to help Others see what you see, big picture down to small relevant detail.
Now, can you look at the question asked above “How do I get people to pay me for advising them?” and see, that what you are asking is framed from the perspective of "What can I get from someone else?" or "How can I get someone else to do what I want them to do?"
This framework of seeing the other as someone who can do something for you, rather than, what can I do for Others is one of the biggest lessons I learned in my early 20's from a mentor who was the head of a huge national commercial real estate company.
On his home desk in his Hawaii location, he had a placard. It had one word in bold letters.
Here in the states, when you go into businesses, you will often see inspirational posters with words like "SUCCESS" and "ACHIEVEMENT" and "COMMITMENT" and "DEDICATION." Yet there is one word that is more powerful than all those words because it encompasses why we (Projectors) are here to do what we do.
As a Projector, that word is what we focus on naturally, with no effort. It is our Wu Wei (Wu wei refers to the cultivation of a state of being in which our actions are quite effortlessly in alignment with the ebb and flow of the elemental cycles of the natural world). Simply being in a room with another person, we focus on them.
The secret to my mentors' success was one word that he focused on daily.
That word was "OTHERS"
"Projectors need more than any other Type to understand the power of their aura. The Projector's aura is very specific. It is a bio-energetic field that can be felt across a room, and it is coded to a certain very distinct frequency. Anyone who is not attuned to that specific frequency will never really notice the Projector, and anyone who is attuned to their frequency cannot help but pick them out across a crowded room.
"he Projector's aura is magical. Not only does it ensure that they will get exactly the right recognition and draw it towards them, but also it serves to protect them.
Anyone who is not naturally drawn into the Projector's aura is not going to be healthy for them.

Now, how can we reframe the question “How do I get people to pay me for advising them?”
Can you see how the energy shifts within you as you contemplate this when we rephrase the question to:
"How can I fulfill my Projector purpose of Advising Others for Success?”
Now, I'd like to invite you to take a deep breath and see how that feels settling into your Projector body, your precious vehicle with no consistent access to either Generation or Manifestation.
We are designed to be wise about these things, all of us Projectors here, in our own unique way. There is no shortage of people on our fractal simply waiting for us to appear in their lives for us to mutually Recognize. Vibrationally, we need to be in a state where our Aura is “seen” by them first. When the student is ready (US) the teacher appears (THEM). As a totally open Ajna and a Right Brain/Mind, I know nothing without my students and life experience asking of me.
We can guide particular people, in right timing, once we have a system of study we have Mastered. You won't need to get anyone to do anything, because in truth, you cannot. That is why the way you framed the question may have felt disempowering and frustrating.
It is the most natural thing in the world for us Projectors to have deep penetrating conversations with Others that serves to Advise and Guide them. The Success of Others is how we gain meaningful personal Success.
I would not have the Success I enjoy without the guidance and support of my Projector partner, or the Generators who have invited me over the years to guide them in thier work.
SEE THE OTHER CLEARLY
You can only help Others to see what they themselves know needs to be done, and the how is our gift.
Now, in the Guidance aspect, as an Advisor who has studied HD deeply, including BG5, OC16 and Rave Psychology, I know what I have seen work in my own life and in the lives of those I Serve. I would like to share that below in a moment.
Back to the question: "How can I fulfill my Projector purpose of Advising Others?"
My suggestion is to look at your own life now and recognize: where are you already Advising others? What do Others ask of you?
Begin with what you know. This is the most Practical piece of Advice I can give you. In the beginning of my experiment, after being invited in, and feeling it out for a few months, I quit my miserable job at the time, sold everything I had of any value, studied until I ran out of money and began a coaching practice with what I already knew.
I wish someone would have told me what I am about to tell you.... I know it can help you learn how to move to a greater level of personal fulfillment more quickly than my years of intense study and trial-and-error.
I would like to outline 5 steps to Advisor Success when facing your question above:
1) Get clear on WHO YOU ARE HERE FOR: Wait for Recognition and Invitation!
Knowing WHO you are here to Serve and WHAT they're CHALLENGED BY:
To help my OTHERS recognize their OTHERS, I describe their Nodes for them, particularly where and how they themselves are designed to see because this is where they can fulfill their purpose. I integrate the current Life Cycle Nodal themes as applicable.
2) Know WHY you’re here on Earth:
To do this with my clients, I consult with them to synthesize their life experience up to this point, their Incarnation cross, profile, Type and current Life Cycle they are in, then we give it over to their Authority to decide.
3) Know HOW you are here to Profit (Receive Money) from your eventual Wisdom through helping OTHERS:
To help my clients see where they have the most Profit potential, I look at their undefined Centers and synthesize what I know about the design and cycles, them and their life up to this point, and then ask questions to help them see the relative goldmine of wisdom that they already have access to. This can be seen in the dormant gate potentials and their material application.
*Now that we know WHO you are here to Serve, WHY you are here, WHAT challenges your OTHERS are facing and HOW you are here to help advise them, all that remains is addressing your fears that are holding you back and attracting their attention to what you have to offer.*
4) Take what you already know, applied through the framework above, and educate your Others about what you know, WHEN you are invited, from the perspective of how you are designed to be Motivated in alignment with how it can solve their biggest challenges and reasons why they are asking for Guidance.
All Projectors have their own unique way of teaching, leading and guiding that is unique to their design. I am a creative role model of this. I weave what I've learned about what works and what doesn't throughout my work along with my Personal Perspective of my life experience, which is what I've seen work for me. Most of my clients find me on YouTube. I publish videos of me teaching what I know, in hopes of inspiring others through times of growth and change. It works.
5) Help OTHERS to SUCCESS, only the ones who have asked you, who recognize and invite you, in alignment with your own Authority
When I feel emotional clarity that I can make a knowing, creative contribution from my recognition of feelings, my personal perspective and I feel hopeful about what I share, I do. This is what has been correct for me as a 3/5 Cross of Contagion with my design.
The more you actually Help Others, creating your value through recognizing their value, supporting thier process as correct for you both, the more they recognize you for how you can help THEM. And that, my Projector kin, is what has worked to support the growth of my personal practice. I have a business that gives me the freedom to live anywhere in the world and do what brings me JOY as I advise and help others be successful. It all begins with Living YOUR Design.
It is my hope that this sharing has helped not only you, my friends, I hope it has also empowered anyone else who is looking for guidance on how to fulfill their purpose and feels lost about what to do.

The #3 Projector Success Secret is WHAT you can advise others about.
LAVEENA: Okay. So let's go back to the next piece of your success secrets as projectors, as advisors. So the next piece is what? What are the challenges that you're here to advise on because you as a Projector are here to be an Advisor. That is the biggest thing to recognize is that we are here to advise the other people. Now how are we here to advise other people?
B stands for the area of where you actually Be. I'll just put be here where you be. Okay. Where are you? Be is described in the chart. Where. Where do you imagine that, that is?Where do you be?
So if that's the unconscious nodal environment. That's what I was looking for was nodal environment (your Unconscious Direction). Where would you see, how would you see?
PAUL: Personality Nodes.
LAVEENA: Yup! That's it! Challenges you can advise on are or where you are here to fulfill your incarnation cross purpose, your life purpose is where you be and how you see, so if you were to just look at a person's design and look at the Sun/Earth on their personality side and the nodal environment, the north and south nodes, the future direction and past direction, you would get a really deep sense of this person's movie, of their life purpose and how they are here to fulfill it. That is where you can provide guidance. Now it's not necessarily that those people have their life purpose as your nodes. However, those people are going to show up and you're going to find a really strong resonance with them.
It may be that the people coming to you are experiencing that and one of their larger life cycles like the Saturn or the Uranus or the Chiron. Maybe it's their solar return. Maybe they just need to have guidance from somebody, advice from somebody who sees things the way that you see things, so going into my example, my nodal environments is 27, 28, so I get a lot of Cross of Unexpected and 42 and 32, I get a lot of Cross of Maya this over the years. I just kept noticing why do I keep getting these same people all the time, the same cross. That's one of the reasons is because when you as a being are resonating or vibrating to your frequency. Now there's people being drawn to you that have something that they need from you and for me, it's the purpose of my mind process fulfilled and I happen to teach Human Design.
It doesn't have to be human design, but all of you as projectors have some kind of system that you're here to be of service to the other width, to master how people behave the way they do or why they do what they do. Some way of being able to guide their energy, their awareness, their perspective, their process, whatever it happens to be that they need from you that you've decided to specialize in. So if it's being and seeing and we have a design that gets nourished by life outside of what our unique differentiated design is, what do you imagine that W. stands for? Kind of teasing you guys because I haven't taught you this before, but I'm wondering if you can guess.
PAUL: Wisdom from the openness.
LAVEENA: Thank you Paul. Exactly!
You are a wizard in that openness, you are a wisdom person in that openness.
I had somebody in BG5; we have a profit potential training program on Wednesdays that I'm co-teaching with Karen. And one of the students came in and said, well, you know, I've got this defined throat center and I have all these wonderful channels and they're in these circuitries... So does that mean that I'm a wizard? I can speak with all of those voices. No, actually the true wizard in the open throat is a completely open throat that can speak in any different language that can communicate with any different voice. Think about Celine Dion, open throat, you know, I don't know if it's a completely open throat. Lady Gaga has an open throat, and they're both singers. That's how they make their money. So in the openness is where we have wisdom where we can advise on.
The #2 Human Design Projector Success Secret
The #2 Projector Success Secret is WHY you are in other’s Lives.
LAVEENA: Let's go to the next piece then and we have Why? If you've ever heard of Simon Sinek, he's a big why person, what's your big why?
So our big why is how we are here to help. We are here to help. This is our primary operative. You are here to help advise other people. How we do that? What do you think that sends for right there in human design terms, its Incarnation Cross. What is the incarnation? Cross stand for?
JULIE: Life purpose?
LAVEENA: Bingo! It's our life purpose, so how are you here to help? Each one of you has a unique cross and a unique public role. Your ability to be who you are is deeply tied to how your profile shows up in the world which BG5 five language we call public role, so your public role is going to show you how you are here to help. As an example, and we're not going to go through every all of the incarnation crosses or all of the Life Purposes or even all of the profiles right now, but I'll give you my example.
LAVEENA: I am a determined discover (3) and a practical marketer (5). That's how I Contagiate other people with my mind's process fulfillment purpose fulfilled through mine, quarter of initiation in the wheel where it is about me being able to Congtagiate other people with the way that my mind functions, the ones who recognize and invite me and the ones who want my level of how my life purpose shows up, so "It's innocent instruments of fate who can step in and change the fate of others through learning experiences and discovery." Being able to commit to an experience or an experiment like human design takes a lot of perseverance and that's where my 29 is in line three in the Earth. How I ground my core essence in being able to experience what it's like! Two of my Incarnation Cross gates are in generator areas there about the energy of the sacral.
So it's a big part of why I'm here to help is my life purpose. So for you guys, what I want to invite you to do at this moment is you. If you're particularly if you're strategic and you need kind of a focus or maybe when you listened back to this after as a receptive person that you kind of feel this out or brainstorm and go, okay, so "My incarnation crosses this, I know my public role is that..." when you go through Rave Cartography with me, you'll find out your public role and we haven't gotten there yet in this class, but you'll find that now you understand what your big why is from your incarnation cross.
Anyone want to add kind of any inspirations or recognitions about now you know what your incarnation crosses? That's your life purpose and that's your big why. Do you have any thing that you want to add or share to that? And you don't have to do it now. It could be later on when we look at your charts, we could talk more about it, but if there's something that's on your mind that you would like to share, please feel free.
KEVIN: Yeah. Going back to what you were saying about recognition and invitation. That's so important because it's really, it's about timing. It creates the correct timing for you to serve, and then the life purpose. I could just, I also have the Cross of Contagion, I've been with a specific focus honing in on that in my business and it, and I see the effect it has on the network. I see the effect it has on people and in that awareness of the life purpose has, has grounded me, and anchored me to be able to continuously be inspired to, to share that my message and to teach people human design. So that why is, is, is crucial, but that the life purpose gives a definitive description on that life purpose.

The #1 Projector Success Secret is WHO is in Your Life.
Projectors make successful partnerships. Whether that is with their own or other Auric Types. BUT the who has to come into their lives correctly - through their life strategy of Recognition, Invitation and honoring their Authority.
And yet, from the point of view of the value of Human Design and what needs to be shared on the surface, it remains entirely focused here on Type and Strategy. It really is the whole story. And it’s the whole story in the sense that it is the synthesis of all the mechanical information that lies underneath. Everything about Type and Strategy is that it points us towards the only viable solution in terms of the being able to liberate the human spirit from the drudgery of the homogenized life and the dilemma of what it is to be not-self.
We are not equipped to simply be motivated by propaganda to transform our perception of life. It’s not enough for us to be moved, whether spirituality, religiously, mystically. The fact of the matter is that the mind is something that is helpless in being able to transform the life. And the only thing that truly aligns the life is the ability to be able to know where to find the essence of personal truth. I guess that’s really one of the most difficult places for a human being to go to. That is, to deny the possibility that the other has your truth. It takes a great deal of courage to be able to not only embrace your own Authority, but to live it. It is quite a thing to live your own Authority.

They're private and then I put them over to Patreon and then that way future students and people who are subscribers can also learn from the knowledge. So that's available to you guys. And we'll go do some chart work after I present to the information that I want to share with you. Does that sound good? Yeah? Okay, cool.
So, I want to show you what I've got prepared for you right now. We're looking at some Projector success secrets. I'm so excited because you're going to think that this is like super simple, but if you, if you don't know any of human design, it's kind of complex and you're like all over the place and you're lost.
If you're having challenges with succeeding and having challenges with enough energy, having challenges with your relationships, you're having challenges with making enough money. These are the secrets that are going to help you overcome that. You guys want to know what they are? There's only five, just five. I'm just so excited. Okay. Very first one who, who you are here to serve. So all of those projectors are designed to serve certain people and that is going to come through. We know this, our recognition and invitation, but let's redefine what recognition and invitation is because recognition and I don't want to say redefined, but just really established the boundary of what it is or the foundation of what it is. So that we're very, very clear on what recognition is and I want to invite you guys to go ahead and share with me too, if you have any inspirations, do you want to unmute and join the conversation?
This is not a lecture only piece. This is a communication of all of us, all of our wisdom, all of our knowledge, because you're in my classes, you've recognized me. Recognition comes with an energy exchange. It goes both ways. We have to have a recognition of an other in order to see how they can be made successful. Other people need to recognize our value to help them become successful. So it's a two way street.
Now invitation is another thing. One of the things I remember coming across human design in the very beginning and people going like, “Oh, I invite you to go do this or I invite you to go do that,” but they're not giving any kind of energy exchange to help support that invitation. So invitation comes with some kind of energy exchange. There's a give that comes from the other side that is going to help fuel your ability to succeed because we know as, as projectors, we don't have a constant connection with the sacral so we don't have a consistent ability to generate, we don't have consistent energy to manifest because we're not Manifestors (energy to the throat, consistent energy to make things happen).
So in order for us to fulfill our purpose, for us to serve, we have to have first the recognition-two way street. Then the invitation that comes with some kind of energy exchange. Is that clear for everybody and what do you have to add to that particular piece? If there is anything that you would like to share, an example that comes to mind, something that really, helped you recognize how this works for, for you now, if you've been in my classes, you've heard me talk about this before, you've heard me talk about who you are here to serve, which we know through recognition invitation, that's how we are invited into energy, experiences, communion with other people. So…
KENNETH: Our Aura focused and absorbing, and penetrating the core of a person. So, if it's not invited, we can become bitter and it can be too much for people to handle. Honestly. A lot of people don't want to go that deep and they don't want to get that honest and they don't want to face that or to be seen in that way. So if it's not invited it, it'll just have you know, an opposite effect of what we're trying to intend. to.
LAVEENA: Yeah, it can drive people away. Great add to that, because we know that for us, the way that we can penetrate into the core of a person, it's not just their identity center, it's actually the entire auric field of a being. We get in there and we go deep, like we really are curious, insatiably, curious. That's what drives all of those projected channels that we have. All of those channels that are projected in the design are curious about the other person can help the other person succeed. So that energy is focused, penetrating, absorbing, bringing in the conditioning, which allows us to recognize. Very specific conditioning that allows us to recognize. So everything for us has to be about discernment of the right other. The biggest projector success secret is the right other and all of this is giving you how to discern which is the right other. Now this is just the beginning. This is the foundation of fundamentals. There's more stuff we'll talk about beyond that as far as how you discern, but that's the first step. Our success depends on who we have in our lives. Anyone else have anything that they want to share before we move onto this next piece?
JULIE: I just wanted to say that I get asked a lot, the question about -and so I thank you for bringing it up- the question about the projector and a lot of people have a misconception that it only goes into the G of the other person, so, and it's a whole auric field exchange and that's one of the differences between the open g and then the Projector because the open g goes, it's the reading of the G, it goes into the GE, but projectors go into the whole aura.
LAVEENA: Yeah, that is such a good point to make. And to reinforce, Julie, thank you for saying that because what we are as beings are not designed to operate independently and I think that's one of the key pieces that once you recognize you are not an island, you don't have to do everything yourself.
You're not here to be all about you. It's about the collaboration with the other person. Of course, in alignment with what your design is here to do.

You can't Judge a Person by Their Human Design Type
Why Does the Human Design System Label People?
Remember when you were a child and you were given the label of flower for those bright explosions of color that riot throughout springtime? You noticed that plants are different not only between species but also within, depending on where and how they were grown. Each has a Signature, the spirit of its life-force expression.
But something gets lost when we label things. Have you noticed how labeling leads to stereotyping? We think we know a thing from the label, and then we may take it for granted. It’s important not to get caught up in labeling people without taking the time to honor each as the unique masterpiece they are.
In regards to Human Design, what it all comes down to is that the Types were developed by the founder of this system, Ra Uru Hu, as a way of simplifying the bodygraph information, to make it easy for a newcomer to grasp the fundamentals of decision-making immediately and experiment.
A common concern I've encountered in my professional work with Human Design: does my Type mean I can't do what the other Types do? For example, Generators want to know if they can guide others. Projectors want to know if they can manifest.
You know how everyone says...
“You can’t judge a book by its cover”?
This phrase of speech tells us that you can’t always trust what you see. It says look deeper, beyond outward appearances.
It’s a rare person who doesn’t draw some opinion about others based on initial observations. Rarer still are individuals who are skeptical of their original judgment of others’ appearance, behavior or the sound of their speech, allowing that perception to change due to evidence contradicting it.
You and I both know that when it comes to people, it takes mental work not to slip into this superficiality. Wouldn’t you agree that many people naturally draw conclusions about others based on what they say they do for fun or work? "I'm a lawyer," or "I'm a librarian," instantly conjures up judgments about who that person is.

When I first came to Human Design, I was told:
“you’re likely a Generator.”
Just as you can’t judge a book by its cover, you can’t judge a person by their bodygraph, and you can’t judge them by how they initially appear because many are not living their true selves. Every single individual is entirely unique, and Human Design can show you how to get beyond the homogenized outside appearances to the authentic nature of every person.
It turned out, I'm a Projector. Deeply conditioned to "work hard" my whole life, and burning myself out repeatedly in the process.
Human Typing Systems
If you take a look around you at the world today, you’ll see a lot of methodologies for “Typing” someone. Everything from blood typing to hair typing, to Myers-Briggs, Enneagram and Generational Types.
But the Human Design System offers far more that just a Type. This system goes deep into the core of a person, showing us what makes each individual. It’s not about taking tests or answering a ton of questions—all that's needed is your precise birth time, date and location. Because this science is based on your genetic imprinting using a combination of modern and ancient observational sciences, you’ll find it a highly accurate tool for self-discovery.
Most people’s minds measure and compare how other people dress, what they drive, and especially how they talk—do they sound educated or not? Value judgments on whether or not it would be advantageous to connect with and know them or not ensue.
I notice the same thing happens in the Human Design System with people looking at each other's charts. Whether it is projected, implied, misunderstood or a natural consequence of the hierarchical nature of our seven-centered ancestors that we are still in the midst of shedding the habits of, I see it occur.
Human Design Types
I feel you can't judge a person simply by their Type. Yes, the generalizations of Type are there to help us read and understand the map as well as how to navigate by it are based on the definition. But the map is not the territory. It is a snapshot of the energetics at your birth, the potentials that are there are up to you to discover. One of my favorite Human Design Analyst teachers constantly reminds us to go beyond the words to look at the energetics. What do the words point to?
To understand each other, we need to move beyond what we think we know about others from external appearances—and even their bodygraph. Human Design offers us the graphical representation of the energetics and the keys that point to what a person is. Just as a map is simply a piece of paper, not the land mass it represents, so too is the bodygraph a collection of symbols we analysts are trained to read. Like how every computer has a model number or name that indicate general characteristics, while there may be all kinds of software on there that differentiates it from others of the same brand, make and model. The map shows the binary of our hardware (design) and software (personality) and the synthesis of the two shows the likely potentials but is not the entire picture of the person it represents.
Yes, when you are educated in the Human Design System you can look at the bodygraph and see compelling and accurate clues about someone as far as what makes them tick. You can draw conclusions about them that can be very telling about the pain and suffering they've been through. You can even run their Life Cycle charts to see the learning programs they face and get the flavor of their current opportunities and challenges.
We cannot judge anyone, even people we think we know—because our perception could never see all the elements at work in other’s lives. We can’t know exactly the scenarios of what life holds for them, we cannot know everything of their past or future. Even getting in their aura and spending a good amount of time with them, it takes years to know another, truly, deeply—and all you ever know is the version of them they become around you.

Despite the fact that in the Human Design System we have four Aura Types—and in the BG5 business language that would be four Career Types—there are billions of variations of how each of these Types shows up. When you take it down to the deeper levels, we are all here with the potential to be vastly different. Even twins born to the same parents at nearly the same time are very, very different, seen at the depth of differentiation below the surface of the bodygraph that you can delve into with Primary Health System and Rave Psychology. The unseen aspects that make them unique are the fact that no two people can occupy the same space at the same time, and so the conditioning they experience further differentiates them.
Judging A Person By Their Type
Once you grasp who you and others are are here to be, “judging the book by its cover”—or a person by their Type—happens less as you open up to the possibilities of how everyone, every single one of us, is here to be like snowflakes; incredibly, utterly unique.
Still wondering about that common question among newcomers? Yes—energy types (Manifestors, Generators) can guide others. Many of them may have Projected elements in prominent places in their design, channels that are there to be recognized and invited to help others to success. Non-energy Types (Projectors, Reflectors) can manifest and generate, although it is generally in partnership with others. These rarer Types have no consistent access to energy (as the energy types do) and they are here to be specialists:
Projectors in advising the process of successful manifestation and effective generation, primarily in partnership with one person at a time, though a few are designed to perform group roles for short periods of time.
Reflectors in evaluating who/what is different and being a barometer of how things are going in their community/business.
The Human Design Aura Types (the BG5 Career Types) give us the general thematics that show up in people and the way of understanding the energetic potentials.
What Human Design Is Good For
Human Design is to help you figure out how to be and love yourself; it is not to provide a label for judgment. In fact, Human Design is an amoral system - there is no "good" or "bad" here. The labels simplify the layers and layers of complexity that is us. Human Design can be a tool to help us understand people, but is mostly and most importantly a system to help you navigate your interaction style and decision-making in the world. Others may be not-self or self and most are a mixture of both. We are not our bodygraph; we are intricately designed beings changing in the neverending now... with what we see, how we feel, who we are, what we do, how we act. Seeing our charts gives us potentials—it by itself does not show what we will or will not do with the possibilities there. We are the only ones who can experience how our design relates to us over time. You Design shows you what is most you, and others can never actually comprehend the totality of who you are. When you are operating in tune with your Design, you can live out your incredible uniqueness and differentiation, transcending labels.
Remember that the most practical use for Human Design is that it’s about our decision-making as ourselves. Commune with others when it's in alignment with your authentic energy flow, discerning by attraction, resonance, and harmony to find balance, fulfillment and joy. Does that make sense?
