Do Eclipses Override Your Human Design Authority?

No. Your authority is a property of your own definition, and your definition doesn’t change because the Moon has moved into the Earth’s shadow. That’s the answer, and it needs saying now, because a deep partial lunar eclipse arrives on August 28 and the advice going around eclipse season says something very different.

You’ll read that you shouldn’t sign anything or start anything until the window closes. That language drifted in from pop astrology, and it sits badly here, because it hands your decision-making to a calendar someone else is keeping.

What is actually happening on August 28

The mechanics first, since the pop version rarely bothers with them. According to NASA’s skywatching notes for the month, a partial lunar eclipse falls on August 27 and 28, visible from much of North and South America and parts of Europe and Africa. It’s a deep one: about 93% of the Moon enters the umbra at greatest eclipse, which occurs at 04:12 UTC on August 28. It follows the total solar eclipse of August 12, which I wrote up as a Gate 4.2 activation.

A lunar eclipse is a Full Moon, so the Moon sits opposite the Sun. Computing the field for that moment puts the Sun in Gate 59, Intimacy, in the Sacral, and both the Earth and the Moon in Gate 55, Spirit, in the Solar Plexus. Gate 55 is a loaded place for the Moon to be standing while everyone is being told to distrust their own decisions.

What a transit can do, and what it cannot

A transit is weather. Same sky for everyone, conditioning everyone, which makes it a poor instrument for deciding anything personal.

The mechanical part that gets lost is this. A transit can temporarily complete a channel in your chart and hand you definition you don’t normally carry. For a few hours or a few days you get to feel like someone else. That’s real, and it’s the thing to observe. It doesn’t upgrade your decision-making equipment. Your authority sits where your own definition puts it, and the hierarchy holds its order: emotional, then sacral, then splenic, then ego, then self-projected, then mental, then lunar. Borrowed definition never enters that ranking. It’s happening to you, and it isn’t available for you to consult.

So the honest version of eclipse advice runs nearly backwards from the popular one. In a heavily conditioning window, what you’re watching for is the moment you mistake the weather for clarity, and that has nothing to do with whether you happen to make a decision.

The Solar Plexus point

With the Moon and Earth in Gate 55 in the Solar Plexus, the eclipse lands in the center that governs emotional authority. Gate 55 is the gate of Spirit, where mood swings widest between abundance and melancholy without needing an external cause.

If you carry a defined Solar Plexus, none of that is new information, and the eclipse changes your instruction not at all. There’s no truth in the now for you. There was no truth in the now last Tuesday either. You wait out your wave and decide from the settled place. An eclipse means the wave you’re riding has more amplitude than usual, and more company. The error available here is reading the swing itself as significance: deciding at the peak because it felt momentous, or freezing at the trough because someone said the window was closed.

If your Solar Plexus is undefined, you’re amplifying a Gate 55 field you don’t own. Whatever you feel over those days deserves watching and isn’t yours to act from.

The one design the Moon actually runs

There is one real exception. Lunar authority belongs to Reflectors, roughly one person in a hundred, whose chart has no definition anywhere and who are moved through a repeating sequence as the Moon transits every gate in turn, a full circuit in under 28 days.

For a Reflector the Moon is the decision-making mechanism. Even here the eclipse changes nothing about the protocol, because the protocol was already a full lunar cycle. An eclipse is one moment inside a cycle you’re sampling in its entirety. It makes a useful landmark: a Reflector tracking their own pattern over years learns where the reliable days sit, and a deep eclipse marks a fixed point on that map.

Living it

Treat the last days of August as an observation window. Watch what shifts, what you suddenly feel capable of or hopeless about, and how much of it has evaporated by the first week of September. Then check all of it against the one thing that didn’t move. None of this runs on belief. It runs on watching your own life closely enough to tell a mood apart from a decision.
